Nison passed away in 2002. His daughter, Frieda, was born after the war and lives in Texas. She has attended the memorial service several times.
"I am glad that I am not alone here today. I am joined in mourning by friends who want to do everything in their power to prevent a repeat of such murders. The new Nazis are threatening murder and last week's explosion proves that they are not just threats. By remembering the victims with reverence and remaining vigilant, we want to prevent children from being murdered again." - Ruchla's aunt Felicja Zylberberg shortly after the explosion of a pipe bomb at the entrance to the school on Bullenhuser Damm on April 27, 1980.
