Familie Reichenbaum
Haifa, Israel

In 1984, Ytzhak (Jerzy) learned of the fate of his brother Eduard through an article in the Israeli newspaper "Maariv". He wrote to Günther Schwarberg and came to Hamburg to visit the place of his brother's death.

After the war, my mother searched for my brother - in vain. We assumed that he had died in Auschwitz, and it wasn't until 1948 that I found out from a newspaper article what happened to him between November 1944 and April 20, 1945. His short life lasted 10 years, during which he suffered far too much."

Ytzhak Reichenbaum exchanged letters with Günther Schwarberg for many years.

Ytzhak Reichenbaum survived the Shoah as a child. Almost every year, he and his wife Bella attended the memorial service at Bullenhuser Damm and spoke to young people in German about the fate of his brother and his own story.

Bella and Ytzhak Reichenbaum died in Haifa in October 2020.
