The Soviet murder victims

On the same night, at least 24 Soviet prisoners were murdered in the school on Bullenhuser Damm. These murders were not looked into during the Curio-Haus trials in 1946. Nor was any particular effort made in subsequent years to clarify the identities of the dead or the reasons for their deaths. Journalist Günther Schwarberg made contact with the Soviet Union about the matter. Although the murdered Soviet prisoners were also part of the second investigation process against Arnold Strippel, no light has been shed on their identities up to now.

In 1985 a monument to the memory of the victims by Soviet sculptor Anatolij Mossijtschuk was unveiled in the rose garden.
